Government Affairs Committee

The proactive voice of business generally on key issues and legislation specific to women. Educate women on how to serve our community in the public/political arena and encourage women to run for public and public/private boards. Encourage voter registration and "get out the vote." 

 

Houston On Board

   
HOUSTON ON BOARD is the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce's initiative to be a resource for corporations to identify and find successful women to serve on corporate and private boards. Houston On Board is a resource for shareowners, company nominating committees and executive search firms seeking skilled individuals who can bring a fresh perspective to a board room, advance a company's business strategy and help investors achieve long-term, risk-adjusted returns. Houston On Board will also recognize corporations that support and advance successful women executives.

If you would like to be considered to serve on a corporate or private board and be included in our initiative, Houston On Board, please complete our Houston On Board Matrix. Applications will go through a vetting process to identify qualified corporate board candidates.
 

Educational/Mentoring Committee

Host job shadowing programs with Aldine, Houston, Spring and Spring Branch School Districts. Host principal for a day with HISD. Encourage students to take accelerated classes to prepare for college through the Texas Scholars Program with SBISD. The committee reviews and selects the scholarship winners for the Chamber through an application process."
 

International Committee

Women's Health Network of the Texas Medical Center Committee

The Women's Health Network (WHN) committee was formed when the non-profit Women's Health Network of the Texas Medical Center merged with the GHWCC. The WHN provides a regional network for health professionals interested in advancing women's health through collaborations in education, research, and advocacy. We welcome healthcare executives, providers, researchers, educators, administrators, and community leaders who are dedicated in improving the health of women and girls in Texas. The signature projects of the WHN are the annual Kathryn S. Stream, Ph.D., Award for Excellence in Women's Health and the bi-annual publication, Snapshot of Women's Health in the Greater Houston Area. Monthly articles are published by WHN on the GHWCC blog.
