Suzan Deison
Suzan Deison, a native Houstonian, started her professional career in the non-profit arena as a receptionist for the Conroe Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce in 1976. She worked her way up the ladder to become the Director of the Conroe Visitor and Convention Bureau. In the early eighties, Suzan opened a clothing boutique in Conroe and also owned a travel agency in the Woodlands. After several years, she sold her businesses and returned to the non-profit arena as District Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and later, Vice President of the Easter Seal Society.
In 1998, Suzan was appointed President of the North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce and served for four years and then, in 2002 became President of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, both Chambers prospered tremendously. In late 2005, Suzan, using her knowledge of Houston’s market, changed career paths, and is now a successful real estate investor/agent, specializing in properties “inside the loop.” In December, 2007, Suzan founded the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and now serves as its President. In one year, the Chamber has grown to over 325 member businesses under Suzan’s leadership. The Chamber’s mission is dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of women through avenues of leadership, education, advocacy, and mentoring.
Suzan is married to Joe Colangelo and lives in West Houston. She has three exceptional children, Melanie, Grant & Taylor. Her proudest legacy is her 7 grandchildren, Morgan, Meagin, Madison, Montana, Lauren, Chloe & the youngest, the only boy, Grey.
Her community involvement includes: Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Earned 6 lifetime memberships for the Conroe/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, Board Member; American Heart Association, Board Member; Montgomery County Library, Cattle Baron’s Ball benefiting the American Cancer Society, Life Member of the Montgomery County Fair Association, Auction Chair; Asian Chamber of Commerce, Greater Southwest Chamber of Commerce, Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, President and Founder, Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
